Leadership in Action: Fire Preparedness Seminar and NSTP-CWTS Culmination

On May 5 and 23, 2026, a seminar on leadership and fire preparedness was conducted as part of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) Culmination at Tupay-ya Gym. The activity aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills in fire safety, prevention, and emergency response while fostering leadership qualities among students.

Recognizing that safety requires both awareness and action, the seminar integrated leadership training to develop individuals who can take initiative, guide others, and effectively promote safety measures within their communities. Through this activity, participants were encouraged to become responsible and service-oriented leaders committed to protecting lives and property.

During the leadership session, Hon. Frederick D. Guzman emphasized the importance of effective leadership through the acronym ETHAG, which stands for Empathy, Time, Humility, Action, and Genuine Intentions. He highlighted that true leadership is not measured by position or authority but by one’s willingness to serve and make a positive impact on others.

Following the leadership discussion, fire officers conducted a comprehensive fire preparedness demonstration. Participants were taught the proper procedures for fire prevention, emergency response, and the safe handling and use of firefighting equipment. The demonstration provided valuable practical knowledge and skills that could help save lives and minimize risks during emergencies.

The event concluded with the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) Culmination Program. An inspirational message was delivered by Ma’am Rosaria Pes-oyen, who emphasized the importance of leadership, volunteerism, and initiative in community service. She encouraged students to apply the values and lessons they had learned as they continue to serve their communities.

Overall, the seminar and culmination activities successfully enhanced students’ understanding of servant leadership and fire preparedness. The event also marked the successful completion of the CWTS component of the NSTP, leaving participants better equipped to lead, serve, and respond responsibly to their communities’ needs.
