Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), through its Research and Community Extension initiatives, successfully conducted a two-day Barangay Profiling activity in Barangay Caliking, Atok, Benguet on March 16โ€“17, 2026. The activity brought together selected students from the College of Nursing, Social Work, and the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), along withย  faculty and barangay officials, in a collaborative effort to gather vital community data.

This initiative forms part of the institutionโ€™s partnership with the Municipality of Atok under the CUBE program, which aims to strengthen community engagement and promote evidence-based development planning. The barangay profiling activity was also a response to the request and support expressed by the officials of Barangay Caliking during a prior consultative meeting.

Barangay profiling plays a crucial role in understanding the current conditions of a community. Through house-to-house data collection using the Registry of Barangay Inhabitants and Migrants (RBIM), student participants gathered essential information on the demographic, socio-economic, health, and environmental status of residents. This data will serve as a foundation for identifying priority needs, available resources, and potential areas for intervention.

Beyond data gathering, the activity highlighted the importance of collaboration among academic institutions, local government units, and the community. The information collected will assist barangay officials and partner agencies in developing responsive programs, policies, and services aimed at improving the quality of life in Caliking.

The activity also provided students with valuable experiential learning opportunities. By engaging directly with the community, they were able to apply their academic knowledge, enhance their practical skills in community assessment, and strengthen their sense of social responsibility and civic engagement.

With the successful completion of the barangay profiling, CCDC reaffirms its commitment to delivering quality education while actively contributing to sustainable community development. The initiative stands as a testament to the institutionโ€™s mission of producing culturally sensitive, responsible, and globally competent professionals who are dedicated to serving their communities.
