Empowering Local Start-Ups: CCDC Provides Financial Support and Market Opportunities for Sustainable Community Enterprises

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) supports local economic development by providing financial assistance and market opportunities to emerging entrepreneurs and community-based businesses. Through initiatives that help small enterprises promote their products, access potential customers, and secure business opportunities, the College contributes to the development of financially viable and socially sustainable local enterprises.

On March 24, 2025, CCDC conducted the 2nd MSME Business Expo: Promoting and Building Partnerships at the Student Open Lounge and Tupayya Complex. The activity featured a Home-Based Negosyo Demonstration with Coffee Brewing and IED (Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Development) for Financial Literacy and Consultation. To support participating entrepreneurs, CCDC provided ₱33,000 in financial assistance to cover marketing and promotional expenses, helping them showcase their products and reach potential customers. Faculty representatives from the College of Business Education and Accountancy (CBEA), College of Administration (COA), College of Law (COL), and Graduate School participated in this collaborative initiative, linking academic expertise with practical community enterprise development.

CCDC further extended its support to local start-ups by identifying selected entrepreneurs as official suppliers for the College’s Christmas celebration. With a reported event budget of PhP750,000, the initiative provided selected local businesses with product orders and advance payments, helping them access a market for their goods while providing working capital to prepare and fulfill orders. Products included atsara, smoked meat, ginger powder, coffee, strawberry products, and kimchi.

The Christmas celebration welcomed approximately 750 visitors, offering an opportunity to showcase locally produced goods to a wider audience. Beyond product promotion, the arrangement helped participating entrepreneurs secure business transactions and obtain financial resources in advance, potentially easing cash-flow constraints commonly experienced by small and emerging enterprises.

These initiatives demonstrate how institutional support can extend beyond traditional promotional activities to include practical financial assistance and market access. By helping entrepreneurs cover marketing costs and providing advance payments for product orders, CCDC supports small businesses in addressing common start-up challenges, strengthening their operations, and building the capacity to serve customers.

More broadly, supporting local enterprises contributes to livelihood generation, creates opportunities for local producers, strengthens links with agricultural and community-based industries, and encourages inclusive economic participation. These efforts also reinforce the role of educational institutions as partners in community development, applying collaboration and entrepreneurship to address local economic needs.

Through direct financial support, market opportunities, and partnership-building, CCDC advances its commitment to empowering local entrepreneurs and fostering financially and socially sustainable community enterprises. By connecting emerging businesses with resources and institutional markets, the College helps create pathways for local enterprises to grow and contribute to the long-term resilience of their communities.
