The school prides itself in guiding and equipping its students the relevant knowledge, skills, and values needed for their chosen fields and at the same time, introducing them to career paths that may suit them. Thus, living up to its name, Cordillera Career Development College. In line with La Trinidad’s 38th Strawberry Festival, CCDC hosted and organized an Entrepreneurial Leadership conference held on February 8-9, 2019 with the theme, “YOUTH as Advocates of Innovation and Creativity in Governance”.

The said conference was participated by various community youth leaders, Sangguniang Kabataan(SK) officers, and college and secondary level students from the different municipalities, schools, colleges, and universities within and outside Baguio-Benguet. The speakers, all proud Cordillerans, are young professionals and are considered as role models and pillars of their respective fields. Gerard Felipe, the first Asian Youth Mayor in Frankston City, Australia, shared his knowledge on Team development and Personal leadership growth. TOYM awardee and Good Governance advocate, Dr. Ryan Guinaran, discussed Innovation in Entrepreneurial leadership. Ms. Sheryl Fernando, who is a digital marketing specialist and founder of The Inabel project shared her success story and tips on starting a business.

On the second day, the participants had three parallel sessions headed by the guest speakers.  One session was with Gerard Felipe on Personal Branding and Long-term Vision while Sheryl Fernando mentored the participants on Digital Marketing and Social Enterprise. Also joining the impressive list of speakers was Janelle Vincent Dulnuan, a social entrepreneur and founder of Plot and Play Ventures, who lectured on Sustainable development concepts in leadership.

As remarked by Dr. Sherry Junette Malaya-Tagle, the young and energetic CCDC president, the conference served as a convergence of the different municipalities and provinces in Cordillera to nurture creativity and innovation amidst diversity. This event is just one of the several activities that aims to prepare the future leaders of our community.  The conference puts emphasis on one of the school’s fundamental principles which is to provide Leadership and Character training not only to the students but to the whole community.
