Opening Campus Doors to Lifelong Learning: CCDC Promotes Lifelong Education Through Public Learning Events

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) recognizes that education extends beyond formal academic instruction. Through campus-based educational activities, the College creates opportunities for parents, young people, and community stakeholders to acquire knowledge and strengthen competencies relevant to their personal and social development.

Strengthening Family Education and Child Protection

On December 12, 2025, CCDC, through its Guidance and Counseling Office, conducted a parent-enrichment seminar titled Guardians of Today’s Child: Understanding Their World, Protecting Their Future at Iyaman Hall.

The event brought together parents of elementary pupils for educational discussions addressing parenting, emotional well-being, and child protection in the digital age.

The first session, Caring for the Carers: Prioritizing Parent Well-Being for Better Parenting, was facilitated by Ms. Agnes Kryza H. Sito, Department Chairperson of the Psychology Program at Benguet State University.

The discussion emphasized the importance of parental emotional well-being, stress management, and healthy coping strategies in promoting children’s development.

The second session, Cyber Guardians: Parents as Protectors in the Digital Age, was delivered by Ms. Chita B. Habon, CCDC Guidance Counselor and Director of Children and Family Services Incorporated.

The session addressed online sexual abuse and exploitation of children, child protection concerns, and practical strategies for safeguarding children in digital environments.

Through this initiative, CCDC provided educational opportunities for parents and strengthened collaboration among families, educators, and community stakeholders.

The activity involved 60 documented participants and featured interactive exercises designed to strengthen communication, teamwork, leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving.

Through group challenges and guided activities, participants practiced interpersonal skills and social responsibility.

The initiative demonstrates how campus-based educational activities can support practical learning and personal development beyond conventional classroom instruction.

Promoting Mental Health Literacy Through Community-Accessible

Stress Awareness Activities

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC), through its Guidance and Counseling Office, conducted “Stress Awareness: Ibbay tako kakabsat, Agew tako na” on May 20, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Student Lounge and Student Center in La Trinidad, Benguet.

Open to students, faculty, employees, and members of the general public, the activity provided an accessible opportunity to learn about stress management, mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and personal well-being.

Rather than relying solely on formal lectures, the event incorporated participatory educational experiences, including mandala coloring, face painting, art-based activities, reflective message boards, stress-management resources, basic health monitoring, and Zumba.

These activities encouraged participants to identify personal stressors, explore practical coping strategies, express their emotions creatively, and recognize the importance of physical and mental health.

The event also promoted social interaction and community connection, demonstrating how informal learning experiences can contribute to personal development and emotional well-being.
