CTE PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS PARTICIPATES IN DEPED REFORMS FOR ENHANCED EDUCATION

In the afternoon, the College of Teacher Education organized an afternoon lecture entitled “Recent DepEd Policies, Programs, and Reforms” at Tongtongan Hall, Rooms T1 and T2, Arang Building. The event, which ran from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, was designed to prepare future teachers for the challenges and opportunities within the Philippine basic education system.

The program began with registration and an opening prayer. This was followed by the main lecture delivered by Sir Dexter B. Andres, RN, LPT, MPA, DDM, PhD, whose expertise and experiences provided participants with valuable knowledge and practical insights. His talk emphasized not only the technical aspects of reforms but also the values of unity, reflection, and wisdom, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.

Throughout the session, five major topics were discussed. These included the Department of Education’s shift to a three-term system, the 4Hs framework for learning continuity in emergencies, the ILAW lesson plan, the preparation of essential school forms required of teachers, and the Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST). Each topic highlighted the evolving responsibilities of
educators and the importance of adaptability in a rapidly changing educational landscape. In conclusion, the lecture was a success. It inspired the learners and visitors, better informed them, and made them more prepared to embrace reforms that will shape the future of Philippine education. Guided by the experience of Sir Dexter B. Andres, aspiring teachers are empowered to contribute meaningfully to the pursuit of inclusive and equitable learning for all.
