The Festival of Lights

Last year CCDC held the very first Lights parade in La Trinidad in celebration of our silver anniversary with all Admirals joining the 2 kilometer walk. The event was dubbed “Silver Lights Parade” and the Admirals suited up with silver colored outfits. There were performances on display like the drum and lyre by our Elementary department students, the Santa Claus guys giving candies to the audience, and of course the display of lanterns made by the students of each department. Despite it being the first time to hold a lights parade, CCDC got a positive response from the public.

This year, due to the addition of other schools and organizations participating in the event, the Admirals limited the number of participants from CCDC. But sometimes less is more as the Admirals were able to prepare a better showing than the previous year. Fronting the event were the Admirals on two wheels spearheaded by Sir Venice Toldage joined by some of the non-teaching staff and students from the High School departments. The line was followed by the CCDC “Santa truck” complete with a santa hat, a mustache, and a beard. Then behind the Santa truck are the Drum and Lyre performers from the Elementary department followed by the different school departments and their improved lantern designs. This year’s lights festival exemplify the beauty we can achieve in our community through unity as various other groups joined CCDC with their own brand of lantern designs and costumes.
