Library Services

Objectives

  1. To provide access to learning resources and information services in support of teaching, learning, and research activities of the academe.
  2. Well-trained library staff to provide efficient library services.
  3. Sustainable linkages with other libraries that foster cooperation for efficient and effective use of library resources.
  4. To serve as training ground for securing information.
  5. To serve as a place for conducive learning.

Services Offered

  1. Circulation Service involves activities such as checking out items, setting loan periods, renewing loans, and maintaining accurate records of borrowed materials.
  2. Reference Service provides personal assistance to library users to help them in the information needs.
  3. Library Orientation enable students to familiarize themselves with the library facility, resources, and services.
  4. Referral Service involves directing users to resources and services that are available outside of the library, such as other libraries, government agencies, or community organizations.
  5. Internet Services
  6. Current Awareness Service keeps users well-informed and up-to-date in their fields of basic interest as well as in related subjects. These include bulletin board displays and monthly book displays.

Regular Semester:

a) Monday to Saturday, 7:30AM-5:30PM

b) Closed during Sundays and holidays

Short Term:

a) Monday to Saturday, 7:30AM-5:00PM

LIBRARY POLICIES

  1. Loan Policies

A. Borrowing for Room Use Only

    • All materials borrowed before 4:30 pm are to be used inside the library premises only. They are not allowed to be used inside the classroom or during class hours except when it will be used for demonstrations.
    • Reference books such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, manuals and handbooks and periodicals/serials are to be read inside the library only.
    • Law books are for room use only but can be borrowed for photocopy.
    • Theses and dissertations are not allowed for overnight use but abstracts can be photocopied.

B. Borrowing for Overnight Use for Students

    • Library materials for overnight use are issued from 4:30 pm Monday-Saturday. A maximum of 2 books is allowed for overnight use, but books with only one copy are not allowed.
    • Fiction books can be borrowed for a week.
    • Theses and dissertations are not allowed for overnight use.
    • Graduate students may borrow 2 books for a period of 1 week, provided that the books have multiple copies.

C. Borrowing for Overnight Use for Employees

    • Employees may borrow 5 books at a time. Books can be borrowed for a semester; however; the librarians have the right to recall books which are needed by other library users.
    • Employees are to personally borrow the books.
    • Lost or damaged books will be subject to the policies of the library.

D. Returning of Library Materials

    • All borrowed materials issued for overnight must be returned on or before 9:00am the following day except for Graduate students which will be   returned after a week.
    • If the material is overdue, the student is advised to pay the computed    overdue fines at the Library Office or at the Cashier’s Office.

E. Computation of Overdue Fines

    • Failure to return at the specified time (before 9:00am) shall have an equivalent fine of ₱3.00 additional ₱1.00 for the succeeding hours. Sundays     and holidays are excluded from the computation.
    • Bringing out books during class hours without permission will be charged a fine of ₱20.00.

F. Lost/Mutilated

    • Any lost reading materials borrowed must be reported to the section where the book was discharged.
    • A lost book must be (a) paid according to the value determined by the library, or (b) be replaced with the same book.
    • A lost book will be replaced with the same book plus the accumulated fine, if any. An out-of print book that is lost can be changed with a different author but the same title plus the accumulated fine.
    • Library books damaged beyond normal depreciation must be replaced with copies of the same books. A processing fee will be charged.
    • Any borrowed materials found with missing pages must be presented immediately to the section where it was charged out.

G. Suspensions of Library Privileges

    • No borrower with overdue books or withstanding obligations to the library is allowed to borrow books unless all library accounts are settled.
    • Library privileges of students who have been found to be violating library policies are suspended in accordance with the gravity of their offense.
  1. Internet Section Policy
    • Each student/faculty/employee is given 2 hours per day.
    • Observe first come first serve basis.
    • Internet users are allowed to access any educational sites only.
    • Strictly one internet user per unit at a time.
    • Library staff reserves the right to recommend for administrative/dismissal any internet users who willfully sabotage school facilities.
    • Eating and drinking is prohibited inside the internet area.
    • Everyone is enjoined to keep internet area clean.
    • Internet section is not an area for charging gadgets.
  1. General Rules and Regulations
    • Observe silence at all times while inside the library.
    • Present your library I.D. card upon entering the research/reading area.
    • Deactivate your cellphones and other electronic communication material while inside the library.
    • Anyone caught defacing, mutilating or stealing any library property is obliged to replace with the same material destroyed or stole, or pay the full cost of lost/damaged library material.
    • Please observe cleanliness.          
    • Please be guided accordingly.
