The Cordillera Compass CJ’s Bags Multiple Awards in DSPC

The Cordillera Compass, the official publication of the Career Development College – High School Department, bagged multiple awards at the 1st District Schools Press Conference (DSPC) of the Benguet Private Schools Association (BPSA) held on January 25, 2025, at San Jose School of La Trinidad, Inc., Buyagan, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The team secured first place in News Writing (English) with Lorraine Heda Milo, Feature Writing (Filipino) with Hanabeth Payang, and Photojournalism (English) with Sherieka Celes.

Meanwhile, Drizzel Suerte earned second place in Column Writing (English), while Ivy Jean Jose took third place in Sports Writing (English). Joshua Peter also earned third place in Editorial Cartooning (English). Additionally, Matt Anthony Capiz represented the team in Mobile Journalism, showcasing his skills in the event.

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements. Their hard work, coupled with the guidance of our dedicated mentors, has truly paid off,” shared Adriane Love M. Ignas, JHS Journalism Adviser.

The event was organized by the Benguet Private Schools Association, Inc. (BPSA), bringing together aspiring student journalists from various schools in the division. It provided a platform for creativity and journalistic talent. The winners will represent BPSA at the Benguet Division Schools Press Conference, which will be participated in by both public and private schools across Benguet.
