Serving the Community

The Cordillera Career Development College, College of Health Education’s  nursing program commenced its community duties on September 09, 2024 for the entire first semester period, engaging a total of 486 nursing interns. This is in line with their community health subjects with Related Learning Experience (RLE)  such as NCM 104 (CHN 1) for level 2, NCM 113 (CHN II)  for level 3 and NCM 119 for level 4. These subjects  cover  concepts, principles, theories and techniques in the care of population, groups and communities utilizing community organizing strategies toward health promotion, disease prevention, restoration and maintenance and rehabilitation and community development.

The initiative aimed to provide interns teaching-learning opportunities designed to develop the competencies of nursing interns into working with diverse communities and addressing health-related challenges at the grassroots level held at five barangays of La Trinidad Benguet.

Through hands-on engagement, interns explored the realities of health disparities, learned about effective public health interventions through providing safe and appropriate and holistic nursing care to clients utilizing the community health nursing process, and gained skills in preventing community health issues.

As CCDC students report to the barangay, they assist in the clinics and conduct house home visits of the target client list. Case findings will be reported to the midwife and health workers  of the respective barangay. School nursing is also included in their listy of activities.

The activity not only deepened their understanding of community health dynamics but also strengthened their commitment to serving marginalized populations.

This program underscores CCDC’s dedication to fostering socially responsible professionals equipped to address the complexities of public health in diverse settings.
