Passed the Papers, Passed the Process: CCDC Renews Certification for ISO 9001:2015 Standard

Amidst the gloomy skies and bouts of rain brought about by Tropical Depression Isang, the ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit for 2025 commenced across the various offices of Cordillera Career Development College last August 22, 2025. With a focus on Quality Management Systems, the ISO 9001:2015 standard represents the peak of top-level quality management standards. This year marks the third consecutive year that CCDC has participated in the ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit.

CCDC welcomed the ISO auditors led by Ma’am Jenny Barachina, with Ma’am Ivy Macatangay and Ma’am Catherine Sigua as co-auditors, to the 3rd Floor Board Room of the James M. Malaya Building. The audit began with an opening program hosted by Mr. Denhill Khaine A. Fernando from the College of Teacher Education. In attendance were the constituents of CCDC’s Quality Management System. These include the Management Review Committee consisting of President Sherry Junette M. Tagle and the Vice Presidents for Academics, Administration, and Finance, the internal auditors, and various representatives of the different departments and offices of the school. Ma’am Barachina introduced the audit agenda for the day-long event, which aimed to review the provision for instruction, research, and extension for all program offerings and other support services of CCDC.

After the short program, the auditors and faculty members split off to their respective offices for the audit proper accompanied by students from the Hospitality Management program. Throughout the day, the departments of Teacher Education (Elementary Department), Research, Planning and Development, Business Education (NSTP & ROTC), Procurement Management, Social Work, and Extension underwent extensive interviews, classroom observation, and document checks to ensure their compliance with the ISO standards. Delicious snacks, refreshments, and lunch made by the CCDC Admirals Farm staff provided the much needed energy to power through the auditing process.

Aside from the stormy weather, a long period of no electricity resulted in the faculty and auditors using flashlights and candlelight to search for and peer at important documents. Despite these challenges and setbacks, the event concluded with great news and high spirits. Under the bright lights of the JMM Building Board Room, the closing program began with the presentation of the auditors’ findings on each department reviewed. Strengths and opportunities for improvement were presented by the three auditors, and the major announcement that CCDC had not incurred any non-conformities, whether minor or major, brought the room to tremendous applause. With all the necessary processes completed, the ISO auditors concluded that CCDC is to maintain their certification, recognizing the school’s continued efforts in delivering a high level of quality management. The event ended with pictures taken and wide smiles that warmed the chilly afternoon.

Congratulations to Cordillera Career Development College for passing the 2025 ISO 9001:2015 Surveillance Audit with flying colors! As this is the last certification audit for the cycle, CCDC now has an exciting opportunity to look into other avenues for improvement and innovation in pursuit of globally recognized standards.
