JPIA–Timpuyog Conducts Peer-to-Peer Lecture Series on Calculator Techniques and Revenue Recognition

In continuation of the Timpuyog Di Eskwela (TDE) series, the working committee conducted a lecture titled “TDE Lecture Session: Basic Calculator, Present Value, and Revenue Recognition” on March 9, 2025, at JMM Rooms 512 and 515. Under the guidance of JPIA Adviser Sir Roldan Manganip, the event aimed to equip accountancy students with essential technical skills and a deeper understanding of key accounting concepts.

The sessions were divided by year level to address specific academic needs. First-year students attended a lecture on Basic Calculator Techniques and Present Value, led by Norson Sarol, while second-year students focused on Revenue Recognition, facilitated by Joshua Bay-an. Third- and fourth-year students also participated and were given the flexibility to choose the topic that best suited their current academic needs.

This student-to-student format enabled senior lecturers to further strengthen their mastery of the subject matter through teaching, while providing a relatable and supportive learning environment for junior students. To reinforce the lessons discussed, the lecturers provided practice problems following the lecture sessions.

The group activities were facilitated by 32 students from the third- and fourth-year levels who assisted the lower-year participants. By guiding students through the exercises, these senior facilitators helped answer specific questions and address knowledge gaps, enabling participants to immediately apply the concepts they had learned and evaluate their understanding of the material.
