From Dreams to Decisions: Empowering Students Through Career Orientation Programs

The Guidance Office of Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) successfully conducted career orientation programs for both Junior High School (JHS) and Senior High School (SHS) students to guide them in making informed career choices. The JHS program was held on March 17, 2026, at Iyaman Hall Gym, while the SHS program took place on March 19, 2026, at Tupay-ya Gym.

For the JHS students, several meaningful activities were conducted. Ms. Genevieve Gumiyao from PRC–Baguio delivered a career talk on regulated professions, helping students understand various career paths and the academic tracks suited to them. Ms. Rhea Fe Campana then provided an interpretation of the COPS-R Interest Test, allowing students to discover their strengths and preferences. A highlight of the program was the career showcase competition, where students confidently presented their chosen careers and competed for titles such as Mr. and Ms. Career Ambassador. Additionally, Mr. Jhunedy Antonio discussed the Senior High School academic offerings and curriculum, guiding students in their next academic step.

For the SHS students, the program focused on deeper career alignment and real-world preparation. They completed the RIASEC Inventory Test, followed by a guided interpretation to gain a deeper understanding of their personality types and suitable career options. Ms. Rubylyn Carmelo from PESO discussed current job trends, in-demand careers, and emerging opportunities, broadening students’ awareness of the labor market. The program also included college presentations, where representatives introduced their programs and opportunities to help students make informed decisions about higher education.

Overall, the activities provided students with valuable knowledge, self-awareness, and confidence. Many students realized the importance of aligning their interests and abilities with their chosen careers, while others became more motivated to plan ahead and explore opportunities. The program served not only as a guide but also as an inspiration, reminding students that their future depends on the choices they make today.
