CCDC Promotes Water-Conscious Practices Beyond the Campus

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) promotes responsible water use through sustainable campus infrastructure, water conservation measures, and environmental awareness initiatives that encourage students, employees, and visitors to adopt water-conscious practices in their daily lives and communities.

The College integrates water-saving features into its facilities, including low-flush water closets, water-efficient washbasins, and waterless urinals. Its rainwater harvesting systems collect rooftop runoff for reuse in toilet flushing, landscape irrigation, plant watering, and facility cleaning. Regular plumbing inspections and timely repairs further help minimize water wastage and encourage the efficient use of available resources.

Beyond infrastructure, CCDC promotes shared responsibility for water conservation by encouraging the campus community to avoid unnecessary water consumption, report leaks, and use water facilities responsibly. These practices provide practical examples that students and employees can apply in their households and share with their communities.

CCDC also extends its sustainability advocacy to the international academic community. On June 17, 2025, CCDC President Sherry Junette M. Tagle shared the College’s sustainability best practices, including its programs under Clean Water and Sanitation (Sustainable Development Goal 6), during the THE Impact Rankings Global Congress in Istanbul, Türkiye. This participation provided an opportunity to present CCDC’s sustainability initiatives in an international forum and contribute to broader discussions on the role of higher education institutions in advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Through its Water Conservation, Reuse, and Sustainable Water Resource Management Policy, CCDC reinforces the importance of rainwater reuse, responsible groundwater use, water quality monitoring, and the preservation of natural water absorption areas. These measures support the College’s commitment to environmental sustainability while fostering greater awareness of water security.

By integrating water-conscious building features, responsible daily practices, and international knowledge-sharing, CCDC demonstrates how educational institutions can help cultivate a culture of water conservation that extends beyond campus boundaries and contributes to the sustainable management of water resources in the wider community.
