CCDC conducts Journalism Workshops in Atok

Tublay, Benguet — A total of 36 aspiring campus journalists and two school paper advisers of The Blooms participated in a one-day journalism workshop at Franklin Guy Haight National High School (FGHNHS) at Atok, Benguet on January 17, 2025

The Blooms is the school publication of FGHNHS.

The activity was led by student facilitators and mentors from the Cordillera Bulletin, the official student publication of Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) as part of an extra-curricular initiative to promote campus journalism and leadership.

Aimed at enhancing participants’ skills in news writing, the workshop featured a series of sessions, including lectures on news writing and techniques, a seminar on lead writing, and a hands-on group workshop.

Participants also shared that the workshop helped them realize that writing is more than just stringing words together—it strengthened their communication, organization, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

It also served as a platform for the eight CB student facilitators to enhance their leadership skills and mentor younger students.

To build on the momentum, organizers recommended future workshops focused on feature writing, sports writing, and editorial writing to further support and cultivate a strong journalism culture in schools across the region.
