CCDC Conducts 1st Quarter NSED 2026; 664 Occupants Evacuate Dakilan and Onjon Buildings

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) successfully participated in the 1st Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) for 2026, mobilizing hundreds of students, staff, and faculty members in a coordinated test of the institution’s disaster response protocols.

The drill, which took place on Thursday afternoon, specifically focused on Dakilan and Onjon buildings. The exercise was designed to evaluate the school’s ability to execute three core safety activities: the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” maneuver, orderly evacuation, and the critical process of accounting for all personnel.

According to the official tally released by the school’s safety coordinators, CCDC recorded a high turnout, though the exercise highlighted areas for further improvement in personnel tracking.

Out of a total expected population of 724 individuals, 664 were confirmed present and safely evacuated. The breakdown per building is as follows:

  • Onjon Building: Of the 413 expected occupants, 374 were present and accounted for, while 39 remained unaccounted for during the final head count.
  • Dakilan Building: Of the 311 expected occupants, 290 were present and accounted for, with 21 individuals unaccounted for.

In total, 60 individuals across both buildings were listed as unaccounted for during the drill. Safety officers noted that these figures are essential for identifying gaps in communication and determining if individuals are failing to report to designated assembly points.

The NSED is a quarterly mandate aimed at fostering a culture of preparedness across the Philippines. For CCDC, the exercise serves as a vital audit of their Emergency Logistics and Resources and the behavioral readiness of the Admirals community.

The CCDC administration expressed its gratitude to the Disaster Risk Reduction Management team for their role in making the campus a resilient environment for learning.
