CCDC CJ’s: Championing Literacy and Critical Thinking

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) continues its commitment to promoting literacy and critical thinking by enhancing students’ campus journalism skills.

CCDC conducted a campus journalism training workshop for 50 students from the Middle, Junior, and Senior High School departments at the Microteaching Room of CCDC’s La Trinidad campus on November 4, 2024.

The initiative aimed to equip students with essential journalistic techniques and practices, fostering their ability to communicate effectively and think critically.

“The experience fostered collaboration, encouraged the sharing of ideas, and promoted open communication among participants,” said Mark Sagandoy, a Grade 9 student.

During the seminar, Cheryl Ablasi, a faculty member of the College of Teacher Education, discussed news writing and editorial writing, sharing her expertise in the field. Meanwhile, Adriane Love M. Ignas, JHS Journalism Adviser, imparted her knowledge on feature writing.

Additionally, Mariel H. Buac, CCDC SHS Journalism Adviser, introduced The Cordillera Compass, the official publication of CCDC’s Basic Education Department.

This initiative aligns with CCDC’s vision of nurturing well-rounded individuals who are prepared to engage in meaningful discourse within and beyond the campus community.
