CCDC Basic Education Department Celebrates Mental Health Month

The Cordillera Career Development College – Basic Education Department, through the Guidance and Counseling Office, joined the nationwide celebration of Mental Health Month with the theme “Minding the Mind: Caring, Coping, and Thriving.”

Throughout October, students from the Elementary, Junior and Middle High, and Senior High School Departments participated in a series of activities and talks that promoted self-care, empathy, and emotional growth — reflecting the institution’s commitment to providing holistic, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning experiences.

The Senior High School Department opened the celebration on October 14, 2025, at the Tupay-ya Sports Complex, featuring inspiring and holistic messages from Ms. Sharry Joy Benwasen, Sir Jaylo K. Lacaden, and Ms. Jasmin Evasco, who reminded students of the importance of nurturing the body, mind, and spirit. The Mental Health Booth, set up earlier in the month, also provided creative spaces such as the Hope Wall, I Am Wall, and Emoji Check-In, where students freely expressed their thoughts and emotions — a testament to CCDC’s vision of being the center of quality education for culturally diverse and global learners.

The celebration continued on October 15, 2025, with meaningful sessions for Junior and Middle High School students led by Ms. Irene Alcantara, who guided them in recognizing their feelings, developing healthy coping strategies, and learning how to thrive despite life’s challenges.

Finally, the Elementary Department wrapped up the observance on October 23, 2025, at the Iyaman Hall with the theme “Happy Mind, Healthy Me: Caring, Sharing, and Growing.” Facilitated by Ms. Alliah Bless Bulasao, the program featured engaging and heartwarming activities such as Compliment Me and the Tree of Kindness, helping young learners celebrate positivity and appreciation for one another.

The month-long celebration embodied CCDC’s guiding values, Commitment, Cultural Awareness, Dignity, and Civic Orientation by fostering compassion, connection, and community among learners. Rooted in the philosophy that the student is the center of the educational process, the Mental Health Month activities reaffirmed the school’s dedication to nurturing responsible global citizens and leaders who care, cope, and thrive.
