Blood Donation Drive Strengthens Community Response

From January to August 2024, the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) recorded 12,272 dengue cases, marking a staggering 203% increase compared to the same period in 2023. 

In response to the alarming surge in dengue cases, the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) joined hands with the Benguet Red Cross Chapter and the Philippine Army to address the pressing need for blood supply. 

Data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit reveals that the municipality of La Trinidad reported the highest number of cases, with 1,009 recorded during this period.

With 500 students from CCDC National Service Training Program (NSTP)from its components Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and  Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC), and Community Extension Service from August 25- September 28, 2024. 

Through this collaborative effort, the blood donation drive not only aimed to replenish the region’s blood supply but also highlighted the spirit of bayanihan (community cooperation) in times of public health emergencies.

The CCDC administration expressed its gratitude to the donors and partners, emphasizing the role of collective action in supporting patients and preventing further fatalities.
