History

The two-year certificate in Midwifery was one of the programs offered in 1993 in rented classrooms at the Pelizloy Centrum, located at Km. 5, La Trinidad, Benguet. It received GR no. 026s, 1994, which was issued on July 21, 1994, by the CHEd CAR. In 1995, a total of 157 students became the first graduates from the following courses: One-year Computer Secretarial, Two-year Computer Technician, Two-year Graduate Midwifery, and modular courses in computer. The school continued to experience growth in its student population, drawing students from all over the region while maintaining its commitment to providing quality education to Filipino youth, particularly those from the Cordilleran region.
The Nursing program was first offered in 2002, and it received GR no.019s, 2005, issued on June 20, 2005, by CHEd CAR. This accomplishment was made possible through the efforts of Ms. Sofia F. Malaya, whop as a nurse by profession knows the importance of quality nursing education. Her initiative to start the program aimed to educate and train nurses especially to the Cordillera region, recognizing the vital role nurses play in healthcare.
With the aim to be at par with the national and international standards, the Midwifery program was ladderized to Bachelor of Science in Midwifery program in 2017 and received GR no. 01, s 2018. This program stands out as the first school in CAR with a Birthing Clinic Facility with Philhealth Accreditation.


Programs

BS Nursing

Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the nursing graduates will be able to:

  1. execute a professional, social, and cultural competence in the fields of nursing in accordance to national standards;
  2. deliver a safe, comprehensive, and culturally sensitive nursing care to individuals, families, and other members of the communities;
  3. conduct innovative and community applicable nursing research to improve and uplift culturally-sensitive and internationally competent client care; and
  4. function as a globally competent and culturally sound professional nurse guided by legal, ethical, and moral principles.

BS Midwifery

Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the midwifery graduates have:

  1. deliver safe and comprehensive care for clients from their prenatal stage to post-natal stage and the care of newborn babies;
  2. apply effectively and efficiently the technical skills required in performing procedures assigned to her; and
  3. demonstrate analytical skills in the care of her clients to meet their special needs.
