CCDC Joins Gender and Development Training: “Breaking Barriers: Youth for Gender Equality”

Student leaders and educators from Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) actively participated in the Gender and Development (GAD) Training with the theme “Breaking Barriers: Youth for Gender Equality,” held on November 7, 2025, at the Strawberry Valley Hotel and Restaurant, Swamp, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Representing CCDC were Angelo James L. Ligmayo, Mhel Jane Bravo, and Vanderlie Azmyth G. Segundo, together with Ms. Sheryl T. Garcia. The activity aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of gender sensitivity, equality, and inclusivity, in line with the goals of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5): Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in insightful discussions and interactive workshops that tackled gender awareness, the importance of equal opportunities, and the need to challenge stereotypes that hinder personal and societal growth. The sessions also highlighted the vital role of the youth as agents of change in promoting gender-responsive leadership and inclusive community development.

Ms. Garcia expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to join the event, emphasizing that empowering students through gender education supports the global advocacy for equality and strengthens the commitment of schools to uphold inclusive values.

The event concluded with a collective pledge from all participants to continue “breaking barriers” and advancing gender equality within their schools and communities — embodying the essence of SDG 5 and contributing to a more just and inclusive society.
