MENTOR’S SOCIETY attend the seminar-workshop entitled LITERA

A seminar-workshop organized by the College of Teacher Education- EXTENSION PROGRAM brought together second year students and teachers at the Board Room, JMM Building, CCDC Compound on October 13, 2025.

The seminar-workshop held in collaboration with the Mentor’s Society centered on the theme “L.I.TE,R A: Linangin at Itaguyod ang Turong Epektibo tungg sa Responsableng Aral sa Pegbasą”. The seminar commenced with an opening prayer led by Ms. Angel Resquid, BEEd student followed by a welcome remarks adresed by Ms. Arlene L. Palasico, BSEd English Program Coordinator. Before she ends her speech, she left a message to the students. “To Read, To Read, To Read and To Read”.

Afterwards, an ice breaker followed. Ms. Bliss T. Bacacao, CTE Focal Person for Extension Programs give an overview of the Project ALISTO. During her talk, she discussed the Brigada Pagbasa Program by the World Vision Development Foundation that focuses on helping Filipino children to enhance their reading skills in a context of collaboration. On her speech, she emphasize the literacy rate of Philippines in the world and being a Literate, Illiterate and Alliterate.

After a brief interlude, the seminar continued witha workshop headed by the CTE Dean, Ms. Juvy O. Baso on Reading Strategies. She discussed the MARUNGKO APPROACH, the letter names, sounds, short and long sounds and taught the ways on how to pronounce letters properly. Afterwards, Ms. Kristine Joy C. Ginging also discussed the Do’s and Don’t in Dealing with the students that the teachers must maintain a, adaptability, responsible and professionalism at all cost to avoid any misunderstanding. Awarding of Certificates to the guests and participants followed. Ms. Bliss T. Bacacao, addressed the closing remarks expressing her gratitude to all the contributor to the success of the seminar-workshop followed by restoration and cleaning activity.
