CCDC Collects Nearly 8 Tons of Recyclable Materials in 2025, Strengthens Campus Sustainability Efforts

Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability through its regular waste collection and recycling initiatives spearheaded by the General Services Office (GSO).

Based on the GSO’s monitoring records for 2025, the College collected a total of 7,884 kilograms, or approximately 7.88 metric tons, of recyclable materials from various campus offices, classrooms, and other school facilities.

The collected materials consisted of 7,585 kilograms of paper, 206 kilograms of metal, and 93 kilograms of plastic, documented through six recorded hauling activities conducted between February and December 2025.

Through the collective efforts of the College’s janitorial personnel, recyclable materials are regularly collected, segregated, and consolidated for sale to scrap buyers. This initiative reduces the volume of waste requiring disposal while promoting resource recovery and responsible waste management throughout the campus.

Apart from its environmental benefits, the recycling program also generates additional revenue for the institution. Recyclable materials are regularly sold to scrap buyers, with proceeds averaging at least ₱3,000 per haul, which are subsequently remitted to the College Cashier’s Office for proper recording and accounting.

The program highlights the valuable contributions of the College’s janitorial personnel, whose consistent efforts in collecting and segregating recyclable materials help maintain a clean, healthy, and environmentally responsible learning environment.

Through this continuing initiative, CCDC reinforces its commitment to environmental stewardship while encouraging students, faculty, and employees to actively participate in proper waste segregation, recycling, and responsible consumption.

The College recognizes that sustainability begins with collective responsibility and that simple, consistent actions, such as proper waste segregation and recycling, can contribute significantly to protecting the environment and building a more sustainable academic community.
