5 CCDC alumni to graduate at PNPA

FIVE Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) alumni will graduate as members of the MASIDTALAK Class of 2023 of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), the country’s premier police academy, in Silang, Cavite on March 10.

The future uniformed officers are Police Cadets Normin Luis, Job Angli, Javier Asiong, Revy Dean Basalan, and Fire Cadet Calvin Mondero.

Luis, who hails from Kapangan, Benguet, will receive the NAPOLCOM Kampila Award during the graduation rites, while Mondero, will be recognized as Dean’s Lister and Commandant’s Lister.

Upon graduation, all five will earn the rank of lieutenant or inspector in their chosen bureau of service.

Luis and Asiong earned their Criminology degrees and passed the licensure examination prior to entering the police academy. Meanwhile, Angli and Basalan were in the third year of their criminology and accountancy studies, respectively, when they enrolled at PNPA.

On the other hand, Mondero, whose mother Vilma Bacuso-Mondero, a longtime CCDC Librarian, graduated from the school’s elementary department in 2013.

In the official press release of PNPA, Luis credited his accomplishment as “a simple gesture of honouring the hardship of (his) parents.”

In January of this year, the group visited the CCDC campus to encourage their adings, the students during the general orientation program and also took time to visit their CCDC faculty members to express gratitude.

“The entire CCDC family celebrates with their families the success of these young officers. May they truly embody the tagline of PNPA which is service, honor, and justice, while upholding the positive cultural values of the Cordilleras,” said CCDC President Sherry Junette Tagle.

She said the young officers will be invited and accorded recognition during the Alumni Homecoming on April 4 at the school gymnasium. The event is part of the month-long activities in celebration of the school’s 30th Founding Anniversary.

According the PNPA, MASIDTALAK stands for “Maasahang Tagapagsilbi ng Inang Bayan na may Dangal at Talino na ang Layunin ay Kapayapaan.”*
